International Day of Women & Girls in Science
Women in STEAM at IRSJD
“As many data indicate, currently women represent 50% of the research staff in inInternational Day of Women & Girls in Sciencestitutions, and specifically in our field, health sciences, 62%. However, as we ascend the research hierarchy – principal investigators, group leaders, directors – we see that this percentage decreases.” – Dr. Fátima Núñez, Deputy Director of Innovation, Research, and Learning at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
Gate2Brain was honored to participate in an event commemorating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organized by Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute, i4KIDS, TECSAM, and XartecSalut.
At the event, our CEO, Meritxell Teixido , along with two other women researchers and entrepreneurs, shared insights into their experiences in the scientific and entrepreneurial spheres as women. They discussed the challenges faced, emphasizing how gender has impacted their career trajectories.
As Meritxell pointed out, “We must stop imposing barriers on ourselves, which in reality do not exist, but are the result of our environment and culture. And be able to claim our place and defend our decisions, without fear.”
